The Olden Days
Historical Replicas & Legal Compliance
The below three photos are non-firing, non-functioning historical replicas of pre-1898 designed firearms. They are completely inert, decorative collectibles. These pieces are classified as antique replicas and strictly comply with all federal and local regulations regarding antique replica designs.
This birthday card was postmarked 26 Jan 1987, and mailed from Newark, NJ by Barbara, Fred, Dorothy, and John Dittemer to Stanley Ostrowski of Staten Island. Barbara was Stan's sister. Enclosed was a lengthy letter dated July 7, 1961 from Stan to Barbara.
This postcard was postmarked 18 Aug 1962 and mailed from Salt Lake City, UT by Stella Perkowski to her family on Staten Island. Stella said the salt "looked like ice on acres of land."
Converse versus PRO-Keds
Side Note: My very first pair of sneakers resembled these red PRO-Keds. However, who could afford Converse or PRO-Keds? Instead, most parents bought 'skips' for their kids which were somewhat similar to the pricey Cons and Keds but at a fraction of the cost. In fact, among peers, the bully word on the street was that any kid not wearing Converse or PRO-Keds was wearing nothing other than skips. That's my brother and me with our...skips.
